Rivalry Game, Craziest Fan Contest this Friday

The Lincoln Patriots varsity boys basketball team has had this game starred on the schedule all season long. This Friday, December 16th, the Patriots square off against their heated rival and biggest Capital Conference threat, Washington High. Redemption is on the minds of the Lincoln players, who are still upset about finishing two games behind Washington for first place in the conference last season. Not only that, but this game is sure to have a big effect on the conference standings at the end of this season as well. Right now Lincoln (6-0 Capital Conference, 8-1 overall) stands a half-game ahead of Washington (6-1 conference, 8-1 overall) for first in the conference, though the undefeated Patriots lead by a full game in the loss column. The key match-up to watch will be at shooting guard, where Washington's leading scorer John White will go up against talented Lincoln freshman Keon Jones. The Patriots' coach, Mr. Mike Cole, has already said he plans on starting Jones and giving the future star his most playing time yet in this crucial game. Will the senior White overwhelm the young freshman and put up another 20-plus point performance, or will Jones rise to the occasion and justify all the hype about his basketball ability? Show up Friday to find out.

If all of this somehow isn't reason enough to show up, this site is combining efforts with the Lincoln High fan club to hold a "craziest fan contest" at the game. The fan club is encouraging all Lincoln students to dress and paint themselves to the Patriots theme in support of the team.

At halftime during the game Friday, five fans with the best costumes will be chosen, and each will line up before the fan club section to see who the craziest fan really is. All the fans will be asked to cheer and clap for each contestant one by one, and the fan who receives the loudest applause will be crowned as the craziest Patriots fan. The winner will receive a "Craziest Lincoln Patriots Fan" free t-shirt as well as a free pass to the rest of the home games for the season.

All students are encouraged to participate; not only will the contest be a lot of fun, but strong fan support at the game could also provide a key home-court advantage for the Patriots to defeat Washington.
