Patriots Silence Spartans

On Monday, December 10th, the boys varsity Lincoln Patriots basketball team won their sixth straight game to remain undefeated in the Capital Conference (6-0, 8-1 overall). They handed the Central High School Spartans their third loss in the league (5-5 overall, 4-3 conference) with a surprisingly close 78-71 win at the Lincoln High School gym. Though the Patriots led after every quarter, the Spartans went on a 10-2 run late in the fourth quarter to pull within two at 70-68 with 2:04 left in the game. Lincoln Cruises Past Smith

The Lincoln High boys varsity basketball team breezed past Smith High School for an easy victory on Saturday, December 8th at Smith. Winning by a final score of 84-59, the win kept Lincoln unbeaten in the Capital Conference with a record of 5-0 (7-1 overall). Meanwhile Smith extended their losing skid to four games, now sitting at 2-4 in the conference in a disappointing slip from their 2-0 league start.

Haywood, Half Court Contest Highlight Win


The Patriots continued their strong play on the hardwood Tuesday against Green Mountain, winning their fourth Capital Conference game in as many tries.

Junior center Donnie Haywood went wild in the final minutes of the game, scoring 9 points in the last four-plus minutes to fend off the Bears and give Lincoln a 76-72 victory.

Damon Harris hit two three pointers in a row for Green Mountain to close the Patriots lead to a single point with three minutes remaining. Lincoln managed to hold on and close out the victory.
